Dog Trainer

"Coach"

Dog trainers work with dogs and their humans to teach specific behaviours and skills — from basic obedience to more advanced tasks. Ideally, this is done by applying techniques grounded in positive reinforcement and modern learning theory, which foster trust, motivation, and a healthy relationship.

However, not all trainers follow this approach — methods can vary widely depending on the trainer’s philosophy, education, and experience. For this reason, choosing a professional who values empathy, scientific understanding and emotional awareness is essential.

Some dog trainers may also be referred to as canine behaviour consultants or behaviour specialists, depending on their area of focus and level of expertise.
